history
The Pop-Up Shakespeare Project began in 2018 with a living room read of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. The idea was this: a one-time tour of Shakespeare's beloved comedy across Michigan's Great Lakes Bay region. The show, which boasted a small cast of 13, an easily-travelled set, and a lot of laughs, was a huge success.
In 2019, not quite ready to close up shop, Pop-Up Shakes popped up once again, and shook! Hamlet was our second production. A portion of the proceeds of Hamlet went to benefit the mental health outreach of Family & Children's Services of Mid-Michigan.
We have toured the Great Lakes Bay Tri-Cities, performing at non-traditional theatre spaces such as Midland's Ashman Loft, Saginaw's Imerman Park, and Bay City's Kantzler Arboretum
and 99 Trees Bookstore.
Stay tuned to see what's next!
